COSA awarded a micro-grant to Cassie Tarakajian for their work on improving the accessibility of the p5.js web editor. Following the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), Tarakajian has identified several areas where p5.js can be enhanced. These include making high contrast themes, adding accessible landmarks, and ensuring the navigation of the website via keyboard, among other areas of improvement. Tarkajian’s work is part of a broad and important mission to remove barriers to programming, and embodies the ideals of open source collaboration.
